# TriviaPot: autonomous development from May onward

Descant’s research prototype opened **2,117 pull requests** and **merged 2,076** from May 1, 2026 onward. Tim Layton, the founder and operator, confirms that development during this period was fully autonomous. GitHub supplies the creation and merge counts.

## Period and counting convention

The inclusive boundary is **2026-05-01T00:00:00Z**. Creation and merge events are counted separately through the final recorded PR event, **2026-11-02T00:21:01Z**. Two PRs opened in April merged during the period. Of the 2,117 PRs opened in the period, 2,074 merged and 43 closed unmerged. Therefore 2,074 + 2 = 2,076 merge events. Later September and November work is included.

The complete repository history contains 2,353 PRs opened and 2,298 merged. The earlier application remains part of that history. PR counts describe output, not agent runs or continuous execution time.

## Retained-session evidence is a subset

The separate retained-session cohort connects 352 parent sessions to 358 PRs opened June 10–August 28; 354 merged. Detailed review, changed-test and learning-change metrics use that subset. Learning-retrieval metrics use only the first archive, where comparable per-read evidence is available. None of these archive limits reduce the full prototype output count.

## Reproduce the aggregation and charts

Keep `activity.json`, `evidence.json` and `reproduce-charts.py` together. Install `matplotlib==3.10.8`, then run:

The script derives each day’s merge events from the complete repository cumulative history, filters to May 1 onward, sums new PRs and merges separately, and checks the published period totals and the two carry-in merges before drawing the charts. Daily chart points appear only on real event dates. The issue chart stops August 28; the PR charts stop November 2. No synthetic flat tail is appended.

`activity.json` schema v2 separates `repositoryPRs`, `repositoryIssues`, `prototypePeriodPRs` and `retainedSessionPRs`. `evidence.json` separates `prototypePeriod` from `retainedSessionCohort`. The November 2 metadata refresh adds the final merged PR to output counts; detailed reviews, diffs and the test/learning inventories retain their November 1 snapshot. The original source and raw transcripts remain private; these files publish sanitized aggregates only.
